Germany's largest solar thermal plant and energy center opened

14. Nov 2022

Germany's largest solar thermal plant and new energy center were commissioned in mid-2022 and supply the community of Dettenhausen with district heating. The large-scale project is the result of cooperation between Ritter Sport, Ritter Energie and Stadtwerke Tübingen. This will avoid 1,100 tons of CO² per year. We are pleased that we were able to contribute to a sustainable energy supply with our modular technical buildings.

Energiezentrale Dettenhausen

We installed a 10-unit combination of UF 42 room cells for the combined heat and power unit and a UF 3072 switchgear house. The buildings were partially concreted to 3.5m. With the appropriate wall thicknesses and soundproof doors, the CHP building meets the required noise reduction of 52 dB.

Our project management is satisfied: "The project was a major construction and logistical challenge, which was excellently implemented in cooperation with the Bolkart engineering office and Stadtwerke Tübingen."

By installing 468 collectors on the roof system with a total area of 2,312 m², up to 1,125 megawatt hours of heat can be generated per year. The solar thermal system thus supplies 20 percent of the heat volume purely from renewable solar energy.

In our opinion such projects are an important contribution to the energy transition!

More information on the project is available from Stadtwerke Tübingen.
